National Stadium Closing Ceremony
This historical event had a total attendance of 45,000 spectators and more than 1000 Team Singapore athletes who came to witness the closing of Singapore’s first National Stadium, before it makes way for the new Sports Hub. His Excellency, President S R Nathan was the Guest of Honor.
The event started with a soccer friendly match between ex-internationals from Singapore & Malaysia, followed by a friendly match between Singapore & Australia’s national team. The evening ended on a high with the Team Singapore contingent’s march past, followed by a spectacular fireworks display, and a first-ever party on the stadium’s soccer pitch with DJs from Zouk spinning till dawn.
